Celina Schools to be in a Technology Commercial

Celina City Schools will be featured in an upcoming commercial for Smart Ed Services. Smart Ed Services provide hardware, software, and professional development for schools. Celina City Schools purchased Smart Boards (industry-leading interactive whiteboards) for nearly all of their classrooms last year. The funds to purchase the Smart Boards came from Federal stimulus grants. Tremendous academic gains and increases in student engagement were seen with the addition of this new tool for classrooms. Pictured below is German teacher Marge Thobe being interviewed about her use of the Smart Board in her classroom. A handful of teachers and staff were interviewed by Smart Ed Services. Students were also filmed utilizing this technology in their classrooms as well.

Celina Teachers and Administration Research Technology for Student Use

On Friday, October 29, teachers and administrators from Celina Schools visited Fairview Park Schools. Fairview Park is a suburb of Cleveland. The purpose of the visit was to discuss and witness first hand the 1-to-1 laptop initiative Fairview Park started this school year. Staff from Celina met with teachers and administrators in Fairview Park to hear about what is working and about the early stages of implementation. Staff toured classes rooms at the elementary and and high school levels. Elementary students use laptops that stay on carts in the classroom when not in use. High school freshman are assigned computers for use during the school day and for students to take home for further study.
